Echocardiograms

Cardiocare, as a leading echocardiology center with the office in Chevy Chase, MD, offers its patients echocardiograms. Echo tests provided by our expert cardiac specialists allow thoroughly examine your heart and detect any possible diseases.

A transthoracic echocardiogram, or echo as it is commonly known, is an ultrasound of the heart. It allows us to visualize the heart muscle and assess its structure and function in real time. This is an invaluable test in cardiology and is used widely in the work up of coronary artery disease, heart failure, heart rhythm problems, and valvular disease.

An echocardiogram takes about 20-40 minutes and is performed by one of our expert sonographers in our ICAEL-certified echo lab. The echo images are then reviewed by your cardiologist and the results are discussed with you. For the test, you will be asked to remove your shirt and any undergarments and wear a gown. You will be lying down on your left side as we capture images of your heart in action.
